This project by the T2T Alliance achieved a 'Leading' Design v1.0 IS Rating.
The Torrens Road to River Torrens project includes a 3.7km upgrade of South Road incorporating a 1.4km long non-stop lowered road (8m below ground level) and aims to improve travel efficiency for north-south traffic through Adelaide’s metropolitan area. It also includes a rail overpass, improving pedestrian and cycling facilities and other intersection upgrades.
DPTI has registered the project for an IS rating to help drive sustainability initiatives within this major infrastructure project.
“The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is committed to sustainability and believes that this can be progressed on the North-South Corridor - Torrens Road to River Torrens project by using the ISCA IS Rating Tool. The IS Rating process enables DPTI to ensure that sustainability is a key consideration in the design and delivery of the project. It is anticipated that the registration of the project for an IS rating will drive the implementation of sustainability initiatives throughout all project phases. It will provide a sustainable performance baseline for future projects and enable DPTI to benchmark this project against other major infrastructure projects nationally”.
